Promoting home ownership and a sense of community in Memphis
Debbie Sowell was born right here in Memphis TN. She attended Briarcrest and stayed home to attend Memphis State but was the 1st graduating class of University of Memphis. With a degree in interior design and a spirit for working with her hands, she worked in construction for several years after graduation.
This experience was invaluable to her future in Real Estate. She was licensed with the state in 1994. She lives in Midtown and loves this part of the city and her 20 years has mostly been spent sharing that love with others coming to Memphis or unfortunate to leave our city.
She lives in Cooper Young in a home built in 1913 with her husband, Chris, son and 3 dogs. She loves to volunteer with the local community association and to tend to her garden.
For over a decade Linda assisted the citizens of Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District on behalf of Congressman Steve Cohen. While working for the U.S. House of Representatives, Linda learned how to cut through the red tape of Federal bureaucracy to get results for her clients. She is patient but persistent.
An immigrant herself (born in Hong Kong), Linda has lived abroad on several occasions. She brings her worldly experience to Memphis real estate having been involved in real estate transactions in Memphis, Tucson, Montreal, Hong Kong, and Manila. Her sensitivity to cultural differences can help guide both buyers and sellers through the challenges in the today’s diverse marketplace.
Prior to living in Memphis Linda worked for many years as the program coordinator for the Chief of the Oncology/Hematology department at the Arizona Cancer Center at the University of Arizona and prior to that for Grubb & Ellis real estate where she held an Arizona real estate license.
Linda’s proudest achievement is raising her two grown children. Her daughter just bought a home in Memphis and works in the tourism industry and her son lives in San Francisco where he works for a high tech company.
